Post by: ashleyroe on December 16, 2009, 08:30:53 am
i was looking through a beetle/bus magazine the other day at a friends house and saw a huge variety of side mirrors for fenders.
some were pretty cool.

any one on here put a fender mirror on their rabbit?

hell with that, its too far forward to adjust if you put it on the fender. your really screwed if you have wing windows and short arms. hahaha.

I'd like to see some pictures of some. I hate how close the mirrors are on mk1s and early mk2s. A fender mirror may just work for me

I hate how close the mirrors are on mk1s and early mk2s.

I feel the same about my early MKII. I have often wondered if i could use my doors and install window channels from a late MKII and have the full length windows. Then mount my mirrors like late MKIIs. I'd rather thatg then to source out late doors cause american MK2.5s have passive shoulder belts and i hate them very much. Plus i'd rather not repaint the doors just yet.

Sorry bout the High jack

the old style belts work on the new style doors.  I had the old style belts in mine before I tore it apart.  I like the new style mirrors though.

im pretty sure you can swap out the channels and windows. should be just like a toyota door..

there is a nice thing to wing windows tho if you smoke. too bad VW never made the wing windows function.

I don't know if mine were modded, but my 81 wings opened. I Si them shut for winter though.

my 81 has wings too, and they opened at one point. but they are glued shut. i was referring to mk2's, with the non opening windows.
