I saw some oil leaking from my oil filler cap. I have a good amount of air or blowby (it is not smoky) blowing out (enough to bounce cap around.) I pulled valve cover vent to the intake to see if it was plugged.( I can blow back through it so I guess it's not.) But with the engine idling I have air pushing out my intake? When I rev motor up It stops . When it is idling It pushes a fair amount of air/exhaust? out. Do I need to replace my turbo or is this normal? I am down to the add mark when I change oil at 5000 miles. ( I am leaking some of it.) It Is a 59hp eco turbo with about a 100,000 miles on it. PS.Pulling vent did not stop air pumping out the oil filler hole.

hmmm, sounds like you have a case of a tired engine. if it makes so much blow by that its coming out the intake, its probably pretty shot.

Mine does that too and I don't have an explanation. I can't remember if it did that before I turboed it.

both my n/a's have significant blowby from the top of the valve cover. I think even brand new this happens. i wouldnt worry too much as it seems you are not loosing to much.. like what.. half a quart every 5000 m not bad really.

I think he said the air is coming out the intake mani.
I think it's really an illusion and the air is going in like it supposed to and just feels like it's coming out.

Air huffing out of the valve cover through either of the openings is 100% normal. Its because of the long stroke of a diesel. If it is heavily mixed with oil vapours, then you have a problem.

Obviously hard to grasp that the "air" is coming out the intake.
I haven't noticed it on my cars but I'm not sure I've looked.
Probably distracted by all the gasses coming from the block vent.
I've heard this mentioned before and it didn't get resolved that time.
First thing I think is bad intake valve,... but it might be normal.

I have noticed that air comes out the intake as well. With the filter off, and valve cover to intake manifold vent tube still attached.. the blowby does not get sucked immediately in to the intake.. it huffs out of the intake plenum, and then gets yanked back in.
I think the OP's car is perfectly fine...

In this pic you can see my embarassing blue intake hose, it goes from the compressor to intake mani and the only the thing coming off the intake mani is the boost gauge tube and the breather goes to the airbox so it's not affecting anything.
When I disconnect the blue hose from the compressor and run the engine air puffs OUT the hose, enough to blow my hair around quite hard. When I rev it above a high idle it stops puffing out and starts acting normal.
Very strange I know, I've pressurized the intake system for 20-30 minutes looking for a boost leak and the valves sealed perfect.
I think it's a phenomenon and there's no gook reason for it. ;D
