Title: Bad injectors or wrong timing? Lack of power over 2800 rpm
Post by: jbturgeon on November 20, 2009, 09:20:05 am
Hi guys, i got  1.9 td with ac, 366500 km, and just got the head gasket done with timing belt and cleaning everything.. The problem is that i got this clicking ticking sound from my engine (injectors i suspect) on startup and at high rev (over 2800 rpm) and a lack of power over 3000rpm. There is white smoke as well over 3000 rpm. That is why i suspect the some injectors to be bad. I think my injectors (probably #3 or #4) are sticking or just got enough mileage on them to keep on going. I guess my timing is ok because it starts on the first crank at -5°C and i still got good mileage per tank. Also, i had to stick my wastegate on my turbo open all the time because the changeover valve don't open at high rev (another electric problem i guess!).

My question is where to start first:
1)Should i just leave it and my injectors will get fixed by themselves by shifting at very high rev (4500rpm) for a certain period of time!!
2)Getting my injectors rebuild;
3)Getting timing done on the Ip prior to a rebuild of my injectors or vice versa.
4)Anyone's sale used injectors?

Thx again

I'd start by checking the timing, then getting the injectors tested and take it from there.

That's what i though. Can my Ip timing be off after a headgasket and a timing belt job? On the last post, i forgot to mention that the clicking sound was there before i did the gasket and t-belt. The other problem is that i have never done it... Time to give it a try i guess!!
