Title: WTB: MK1 diesel 1.6 front injection bracket/motor mount
Post by: Familydiesel on November 08, 2009, 07:28:36 pm
I want to buy an injection bracket/front motor mount for MK1 1.6 diesel.  I am installing a 1.6 td in my 1980 caddy and need the bracket to mount the motor in the body.  I would prefer one with a NEW engine mount or one in new-like condition.  I had one, but gave it to a friend who needed it for a cabriolet 1.6 td conversion project.  I thought my 1.5 na diesel bracket would fit, but it does not.

Also, if you know how to remove the old engine mounting rubber from the frame of the bracket I would like to know.  I tried to punch out the old one, but it didn't budge.  So, if you have a bracket that needs a new engine mounting rubber, it would be helpful to know how to change out the old and install a new mounting rubber.
Thanks so much,
Greg :-\

I dont have one but the best way to get it out would probably be the blue wrench. I think what I did in the past was a thin metal sawzall blade on the inside of the mount.

Hey, that makes sense.  That would work!
What about putting in the new mount?  What is the best way you have found for doing that?
Thanks,
Greg
