Want to put a diesel in a 86 Golf gasser, so need a tank.
Or an effective way to remove the restriction from the filler neck of the gas tank!
-
Bump for you Kent
Someone will help you out here.

"Upgraded oil pumps?" For ALH only?
How about for 1Z/AHU?
-
Just stock for AHU/1Z sorry.
Then only upgraded pump I carry is for 1.6 engines.
-
I have a tank from a 98 jetta tdi, its in NY though.

I have a gasser tank in my '91 Golf.
I heated a piece of 3/4" metal pipe with a propane torch and stuck it in the hole.
Melted the plastic hole until it was big enough,.. the metal flapper pulled right out after that.

I did exactly the the same thing on my '91. Very easy and very little mess. I have a diesel tank sender from my '86 diesel if you need one.

Interesting! A hot pipe—gimme that torch!
But why would the fuel level sender be any different for diesel than for gas? The pickup lacks the pump and the screen is coarser for diesel, but I don't see why the fuel level sender would be different… Clue me in!

I consider the sender the whole unit including the fuel level sensor. The whole lower section is different but you can just replace the pum with a tube.

I've always wondered how well the intank pump would work as a helper pump in our diesels.
