Title: Emergency Seatbelt
Post by: Emerald Energy on October 22, 2009, 12:58:30 am
Has anyone sucessfully bypassed the emengency seatbelt on a 91 jetta. I have a short in the mechanism attached to the door and it is causing starting issues. I'm wondering if there is a way to bypass that circuit or to connect the two wires together if it will let the car start or what happens?

Thanks for any help.

I took the whole system's power wire and used that as my "keyed on" power supply for my stereo. No more annoying sounds.  ;D

That goes on when the key is inserted?
My '91 Golf has a relay for that, so I can listen to the radio without the key on.
but on earlier ones the radio shut off when the engine did.
 Good idea.
To the original poster; I found the relay and jumped the wires going into the back; from the ignition> to the starter.

I just did as suggested(crimp the two wires together) and the car starts fine, also no more annoying buzzer when you open the door with the keys in the ignition!
