Title: color critique
Post by: ashleyroe on October 21, 2009, 11:53:11 am
i've pretty much decided i'm respraying the car centurion grey, it's orginal color.
but these other options have gone through my head.

my orginal plan was porsche amethyst but the grey grew on me.

inaris is my favorite mk1 color. and the other ones were suggested to me.

centurion in all it's faded glory:

I can only narrow it down to 2. The Centurion or Platinum. But I voted for the Centurion ;D

Go with the amethyst....then you could get some purple shoes to go with it ;)

omg that green rabbit has an extremely ***in 2.0 in it.
back to the point though...
go for the centurion gray.
thats pretty close to the charcoal gray on my 88 4Runner.
i really like that dark gray charcoal color.. it goes good on rabbits.

Here's a pic of my Scirocco, not sure of the color, it was re-sprayed, and the original was Cirrus gray metallic, I've heard reports that the color that you get to match Cirrus is different than what it originally was.  I like it, though I will probably re-spray it something else.

Anyway, a pic of my mk1 in metallic grey for reference:

Any of those colors you picked would look good.

Inaris is a sexy colour. Every vw I've ever seen in inaris has always been an immaculate show winning quality car.

Repaint it in whatever it came in IMO. Or respray it in a newer VW colour. But stock repainted makes the car look super fresh!

i like the inaris alot too, i just don't think it will look right with all my smoked bits.

it looks good with chrome highlights and stock colored lights.

the centurion grey is a great color for the car especially with the grey interior, but i just think a deeper grey would make it look awesome.

i keep seeing a platinum beetle in fall river just like the picture, i try to envision what the rabbit would look like.

again, the cheap and easy way would be to just do a respray.
if i do the body work and prime the car i can get it painted for 500-600 bucks
from a neighbor of mine.

he painted the trunk on my cabby :)

Oh man, you're taking me back - my first car was an 80 Scirocco S.  Yours looks great!  Anyway, Ashley I'd either go for the inaris or the orig. color.  Going orig has the advantage of not having to deal with all of the nightmares of a complete color change (or, if you don't, having a car with a purple exterior and gray doorjambs  :o)

Not on the list, but I did see a new mustang at a Ford dealer in a blue that reminded me of their old engine paint.

Little bit brighter, IMO. But the 'stang looked nice.

Stay safe, stay well. Jimmy.

If i was going to change colour I'd go for a nice rare colour like dark burgundy pearl aka aubergine LC3U, or if your looking for a good dark grey Pearl Grey LA7U

thats kinda the look im going for in my 85 GTI. its all beat up and rusty on the exterior, but it has a SUPER CLEAN interior with recaros. what more could you ask for? resonator and catalytic converter are disappearing today. muffler might too if it doesnt fix the exhaust leaks. god i hate leaks.

I like the Fresca Green of the 02/03 VW Passats.  A little darker shade of Inari Silver.
