Title: timing light adapter
Post by: truckinwagen on October 19, 2009, 12:50:49 pm
I am looking into making my gasser timing light work on my diesel
would a clamp on transducer from tinytach put out a pulse strong enough to trigger a timing light?

if so, would I have to have the transducer lead connected to anything(like a tachometer) or will the inductive pickup on the timing light sense the pulse even with the lead just hanging off the transducer?

I am trying to avoid spending the big money that is wanted for the "real" diesel timing light adapters.

also where do our little diesels like to sit timing wise(in degrees BTDC)?

I think Andrew just was talking about this in another post of his.
12.5 BTDC?

as for transforming the voltage higher, any easy way to do this?

or am I condemned to buying a real timing light adapter?
