Title: Amsoil rep
Post by: macka on October 08, 2009, 07:27:14 am
I am thinking of becoming one as in my area, there is none. Should I get the 6 month pack and see how it goes, or just sign for a year?

Just my 2 cents but the reason I don't use Amsoil products is because of how their products are distributed/marketed. Aside from just having a shady feel to it, IMHO multi-level marketing is a backwards concept these days where anything can be obtained with a few mouse clicks and it magically show up at my door and I don't even have to get out of bed. I would much rather just order what I need from a catalog company I like with a good website than call up some Amsoil dealer who does this part time and wait for him to get back to me on price and availability. When I worked in auto parts we obtained Amsoil products this way and it frustrated me since I'm so spoiled by the internet.

Anyway, if you think there is a demand than go for it. Do you think any high volume customers (shops, repair places, dealers, fleet operators) in your area would buy through you?

i'd say go for it. not many people around here sell amsoil products. the only one i can think of is Precision Tuning Motorsports www.precisiontuning.ca. i never bought any amsoil product from them, but some diesel purge...

i bought my amsoil online and am pleased with it. i like amsoil products, filters etc. there is definitely a difference in cold starting with amsoil, and with our cold winters we can benefit from it.

one word of advice, and this is more of a business tip, but remember that you'll have to work hard to get a client base and work equally as hard to keep it. some people think that they own you for that little 5-10% that you got from them...  ::) another tip is to only sell in bulk. selling a few bottles here and there can be quite time consuming. an idea is to setup oil change packages including necessary filters & oil, and add bonuses like fuel treatment. most people these days know the value of buying in bulk.

but thats all i have to say! its going to be a commitment, so if you're not sure, then don't do it!
