Title: FS: .71 020 5th gear set
Post by: Quantum TD on October 05, 2009, 10:15:59 am
Title pretty much says it. This will fit any 020 8v trans from 1975-1992. It can also fit any 020 with 24mm input shaft (including 16v and 2.0 ABA motors), provided you either mill the face of the small gear, or find a suitable clip to hold the gear in place.

$150 shipped obo

Stock photo. Actual gearset is cleaner.

how many RPM drop is there over a .75 gear set? is it significant or just a few rpms? doesnt seem like that big of a jump.

It depends on your tranny and the speed. Go to www.scirocco.org/gears (http://www.scirocco.org/gears)

Indeed. Most MK1 and MK2 diesels came with 3.94 final drives and .75 5th gears. In such instances, it would drop maybe 150-250 with stock tires. It will depend on speed too. If you drive alot of highway, it feels like an overdrive.

Just pulled another of these out of a 1982 FN trans.
