Would anyone have a rebuild guide for a lucas cav pump?
Very little info on these compared to the bosch pumps, but surely someone has opened one up?
Any help greatly appreciated,

I'd like some info too........
I've had the governor body apart on on (Hydraulic governor) because of a fuel leak (Bad o-ring) but haven't been any farther.

rule 1 of diesel engines
if it says BOSCH and its diesel - your grandchildren will also be using it
if LUCAS - you will throw it away and swap to bosch before you die

Lucas fuel additive is pretty good stuff. but im pretty sure they are made by different companies.

but ive never even heard of liqui moly. or seen it. wonder if you can get it in the US?

they make great oil and fuel addatives

heard of that stuff, but i think thats another one i cant really get around here. the only additive i continuiously run is trans fluid. it gets a quart with every fill up.

Yup, another Lucas Cav Rotodiesel victim here. French Car, British Pump, and the only source of spares I can find? Germany. Does the UK make ANYTHING anymore? Sad. :P
Unfotunately a Lucas DPC service manual was sniped from it's rightful owner (ME!) :D on fleabay yesterday, so we will be in the dark for a while yet.

Lucas might be known as the prince of darkness, but I have to say I have a LOT less trouble with lucas starters than delco..... did the swap on my 354 perkins in my truck and won't look back.

I have a CAV pump on my MF180 tractor I'd like to rebuild. I was using a blend of vegoil and diesel and now I have a slime inside the pump and it won't start. I believe something is sticking(maybe shut-off valve) It was running shut off next day won't start! Took the top off the pump but don't understand the flaps and slide plate which shuts it off. I would like to have someone clean it up, but everyone wants to charge for a rebuild. I bought the seal and gasket kit($22) big jump to rebuild $500-800. I'd part it apart if I had a spare.

Just in case anybody wants to use veg oil in these things, DONT! The hydraulic head seizes and snaps off. Also if you live someplace mountainous, the govenor cuts the diesel (LUBRICANT!) going into the high pressure pump on overrun, or engine braking, the hydraulic head seizes and snaps off. When the pump gets bored, the hydraulic head siezes and snaps off. Makes me embarassed to be British. ::)

I have not a clue, but it's the type that was used on lots of Citroens and Peugeots in the 1980's & 1990's. Ford as well. :D
But at a guess, Distributor Pump attempt C. ;D
