Title: Mk4 tdi do you have to remove the batt to change a driver side headlite bulb

Nope... I remove the battery cover to save my knuckles but the battery is fine where it is.

Remove the battery cover and the cover behind the headlight [2 phillips screws], and the cover on the headlight itself, if it's still there. Then squeeze your hand in there until it hurts. Start swearing at VW for making it so hard" what were they thinking etc etc". Unclip the bulb and pull the bulb and bits of skin out. Check to see which way the bulb sits in the headlight so you don't end up taking a hammer and punch to reinstall it.
