Title: steering rack bypass pipe repair ?
Post by: the caveman on October 04, 2009, 01:39:25 pm
Anybody ever find a replacement pipe or tubing to repair the 2 small fluid bypass pipes that run across the steering rack between the pinion and rack ends? The size is odd [7mm if i remember ] and is impossible to match with imperial sizes. i tried with1/4 -too small when flared and 5/16 is too big to fit the end fittings. This is on a mk2 jetta, but i believe they are all the same on VW's from 1986-1998 .

Are they removable? Because I have a spare power rack and could send the fittings to you for cheap.

Visit a hydraulic shop. They have lots of metric tubing for the European and Chicom machines that use metric fittings.
