Title: alternator
Post by: dieselsmoke on September 30, 2009, 10:24:10 am
I was looking at getting the clutched pulley for my alternator but the cost of the pulley is $116 (cheapest I can find). Is there an alternator from a newer model jetta with the clutched pulley already on it that can bolt directly into my 1994 1.9 diesel jetta? I would just go to the auto junk yard to find one.

TDIs have the clutched pulley but I believe the mounts are different, and I don't think they have the W-terminal either, since the TDI tach is driven from the ECU.  And, at least around here, TDIs are too new to show up in a junkyard.   ;)

Perhaps ask Brian at Roseland Technical Services about the pulley... his site shows one for $60, although it might not be the exact one you're after.

He's able to get just about any OEM VW part... might be worth an email.
