Title: TRANS STUCK IN 3RD!

My detent bolt backed out with out my knowing and when i shifted to 3rd it stuck. I pulled the detent and the other bolt out and the end cap can not get in there to see what is jamed! Does anyone have any ideas? The dayton Dub dash is this wknd and i wanna drive my car but not with only 3rd gear. Its a 9A trans

Have you tried pushing the car back and forth with pressure on the shifter towards another gear position.

Was your tranny making any howling sounds prior to this incident?

Yes i've tried rocking the car. It really looks like the selector is trying to shift 2 forks at once or is in third and stuck on the back side of another fork. Can't see in very well. I pmed him and just waitin for a response. No noises prior. It was shifting funny on the way to work it couldn't wait till i got home.

I could be stupid, but isn't a 9A an auto trans ?
