Title: thumping feeling in accelerator pedal (no noise though)
Post by: b1rdjx88 on September 13, 2009, 07:44:16 am
I've been getting a thumping feeling through the accelerator pedal on my 94 aaz.  It only happens under loaded light acceleration between 1500-2500 rpms.  I haven't noticed any knocking noises.  It has been doing it for the last 5000 km.

Engine has had quite low oil pressure for a while now (intermediate shaft bearings).  It idles at 5-7 psi hot at oil filter for last 15000 km or so and I started using lucas oil stabilizer to help bring the pressure up since about 8000 km ago.

Any theories?  I'm guessing rod bearings, but I wouldn't have expected them to last this long and would have thought I could hear them.

I'm more just curious than worried as this engine will be coming out of the car soon to make way for a rebuilt replacement.
