I have tried to remove the collar on the IP fuel screw, to no avail. I have also done some searching and havn't found anything yet. I completely ground threw the collar on one side and it didn't come loose, I have one spare screw in a spare pump, so...
Any idias?
Thanks
Travis

Did you try loosening the lock nut, then turn the screw, leaving the collar alone?
-
Ya, got it to go in slightly, will have to try it on the other one.

On my '79 the collar was spot welded to the screw in a couple of places. It took a lot of effort to get it off without messing up the screw. It still damaged a couple of threads though. I wonder if it would actually be better to drill the pump slightly so that the collar would turn in a little further.

I used a dremal tool to cut my lose. just take your time and be patient. A Little peice of metal is HOPEFULLY not smarter then you.
-
I did try cutting it but must not have gotten all the way threw, although I think i did start getting into the threads. if I did end up removing some of the threads it should still be fine though, when I get a chance I will try to work on it some more.

I cut mine with a small cutting wheels on an 1/4" angle air grinder...then I used a small chisel to break it loose and off the screw..
-
Wow, spot welded? Normally you can simply pry it off with a screwdriver blade.
-
mine was spot welded on the shaft, and crimped too. it was kinda a bastard to get off, but i did it.
-
I know mine is crimped on, and being in california I wouldn't be suprised if it is spot welded also, just havn't inspected it good enough.

dremel tool with a cutoff wheel. the fiber one that doesn't snap. cut through it and turn it half a turn out and cut through it again. if it is spot welded as mine was, cut it there. should practically fall off then.

chisel it off.
