Title: Rear disk Brake conversion
Post by: catlin_cava on August 24, 2009, 04:44:05 am
How hard is it going to be to convert my rear drum brakes to Disk? I have a 98 Wolfsburg with rear disk Brakes on it and I'm thinking of ripping them off and putting them on the Golf. Will it work or am I setting up for disaster.

Cake!!!

Do your swap.  Best to get the proportioning valve and master cyl as well as the master is larger for the 98.

No they wont. You need the hard lines that are mounted to the rear axle for a rear disk application as well. Rubber lines from them to the calipers.

Have you ever seen hard lines to a caliper?  I sure haven't.

Basically you need everything from a disk brake car to convert yours in order to do it correctly.

It wouldn't be to hard to swap the axle as long as it's the same width etc etc.

Still need the prop valve and master cyl to make it a complete conversion.
