Hey guys..i have had a head failure this week (crack)..
After i took the head off and stripped it.. i noticed that 3 of the glow plugs i removed were cleanish and not that black, but one was very black and sooty...
Would this possibly indicate a dodgy injector? Or what else do you think it could be...
Im thinking this could be loosing me some power to...
Any thoughts..?

probably a bad nozzle and its probably not working either.

Is that sortable, Would having them ultrasonically cleaned fix this? Or is it terminal....there uprated hi flow injectors as well...

ok, first, what kinda rig are we dealing with? and how did you get uprated high flow nozzles for a VW? and why? GTD nozzles flow way plenty enough fuel. and usually, when you get carbon tracking like that, its the tip of the nozzle cracked off (most likely) or the springs and break valve in it are broken/ill adjusted. i doubt cleaning it is going to fix it.

Its not a VW (Read my intro thread) its for a peugeot based 1.9 xud diesel...
So you think i have a knackered injector... hmm:(

Had a similar problem with my #4 cyl. when doing compression test. That particular cylinder had the lowest compression. Soot... maybe low compression and its not burning all the fuel. Just a thought.

nothing states anything about what you are working on. i had the same problem tho, swapped out another injector and cured the problem. it had a little louder diesel knock on one cylinder too, wasnt sure it was that one at first, but i replaced the injector, and it ran like a champ. no carbon track out the exhaust port or loud diesely rattle/knock. it wasnt a bad knock, it was just louder than the rest. take a video of it if you can, and then listen to the engine running, cheap cameras are great for checking the condition of your injectors. the mic's on them are so crappy, that they pick up the sound of the bad injector nicely, and makes it stand out. just lets you know you have a problem, not what cylinder it is or how bad it is.

So if its bad... is it most likly bad bad as in injector ruined? Or just clogged up that could be cured some how...

cracked nozzle tips are not fixable, unless you own a nano welder. and its just the nozzle, not the entire injector. you will still have a hollow body to re fill with more parts.
