Title: Vaccum pump
Post by: 4wheeler on August 20, 2009, 07:45:00 pm

How much vaccum should the pump on a 1.9TD make?
Mine doesn`t produce much.  not even enough for the brake booster which is the only thing it runs now..

Any ideas?

Round about 20" of water... same as a gasser manifold makes, so that they can use the same brake booster and cruise control activators.  ;)

Well thats settles it,  My pump is pooched.
IS there any way these pumps can be rebuilt?  and how?
How much is a new one and the best place to get one?
Is there any tricks to it when changing it out?

Ummmm.... I have no idea. Never had the motor apart.
Is there a how to anyone can hook me up with on the site?

I`ll have to tear it apart and check it out.
My oil pressure is there 15psi ish on idle.
Up to 40psi or so on acceleration.

So possible gumming up on the vaccum pump or ports that allow oil through.
Maybe bad oil pump?  Are these motors  known for pooched oil pumps?

How's your oil pressure?  Is the little seal fitted to the inside of the vac pump gear to seal around the oil pump shaft?  Is the oil pump bushing installed correctly?  They depend on a constant supply of oil up through the center shaft of the pump.  Without it, they don't make vacuum very well at all.

oil pumps 99% of the time never go bad on these.

So where is the pressure control valve? Can I cclean that out while I'm cleaning the pump?

I think he means the pressure control valve that's in the oil pump, not the vacum pump.  It doesn't have one.

I took it all apart, seals are good. Veins move freely however the veins are pitted pretty badly on the edges there it seals to teh case.
Where is the best place to get ahold of the 3 veins new?
