Title: Chevy 6.5 CEL 2 codes
Post by: catlin_cava on August 07, 2009, 12:41:19 pm
Got  2 codes, engine spattering and lack of power. Codes are p0271 and p0370.
P0251 injection pump fuel metering control "A"malfunction
P0370 TiMing reference High resolution signal "A" malfunction

What does it mean? This truck is leaving tomorrow for Barrie Ontario then to Florida

I'm not an expert on these 6.5s but I think both codes are referring to the optical sensor in the pump. If that goes you need a new pump. If it's running like crap unplug the optical sensor. It's the 6 pin connector on the very top of the pump. If it runs better then you need a pump.

Or it could be crappy wiring, that happens a fair bit too. Again, usually at the optical sensor connection.
