Title: Just finished K24/K26

I just got done last night rebuilding the K24/26. I followed Jake's guide in the FAQ section and everything went together without a hitch. I had to shave the ring pliers with a dremel just like he did for the tiny snap rings  ;D

I rebuilt my T3 last year and in comparison the K series turbo was much more enjoyable to assemble. It looks better thought out and more advanced, and it was more straightforward to rebuild. I used a 1983 Porsche 924 K26 charge side fan wheel and charge side housing. I used the K24 center section and K24 exhaust wheel / housing. I wonder what kind of power gains I should expect? I'll be putting the turbo on hopefully with my blackstone intercooler and report back.

I got my rebuild kit from G-pop shop.

If you dont get that bad boy balanced, you are going to be pulling it apart in 10k miles to put now bearings, seals, and compressor/turbine wheels in it if you dont get it balanced. dude, these things spin like 200,000 rpms. balancing is 60 bucks. especially when you take pieces from 2 different turbos that were never balanced the same.

Yeah you should definitely get it balanced :o

It's possible that the whole thing will come apart and destroy your motor. It wouldn't be the first time. Your IC won't save you either unfortunately.

The air is moving so fast that the IC can't stop it all.

Each piece isn't balanced individually. The rotating assembly is balanced as a unit.

yea. when they balance it, they balance the whole center section. like compressor, turbine, shaft, basically everything that spins gets balanced.

This is cool.  Does that mean you have the integrated pop-off valve in the compressor housing?
