yes.

020 is roughly defined as rod shifter and cable clutch control.

What would a cable shift trans be referred to as?

I just got my car back, had it in for a safety. The tranny in the car is a CHB, is this a typical gas, or is this a diesel tranny? It's ratios on one of the boards makes me think that it might be decently suited to a diesel. Right now it's mating a 1.8 gas, and it seems to be long legged!
What do you think?

Here is the ratios for the CHB, from www.scirocco.org/gears/

CHB

3.67 R/P
3.45 1st
1.94 2nd
1.37 3rd
1.03 4th
0.85 5th

Can anyone see why this wouldn't work well with a diesel?

Thanks;
Jas

Yeah that looks like a GL kind of box.
Diesels will have more like a 3.94 or even 4.2 final drive.
It is better for top end, if you have the power to pull tall gears.
My TD Has the ACH, and at 70 mph, I am at 3500 RPM...
no good!

My FN and FF has a 3.89 Final, .71 5th, 70mph is 3000.

A smaller number means it's higher geared, a 4.2 final would rev even more........found here,http://www.scirocco.org/gears/

I had an AWY in my '91 Golf N/A, and changes it when I put the TD motor in it.
