Title: aluminum intake tubing (intercooler)
Post by: foxracer1 on July 08, 2009, 06:44:15 pm
Looking for 2 or 2.25 inch diameter. I'd rather it not be polished. I've found kits on ebay but they are $60-$100 with $33 to $60 shipping. All look like the same picture. Doesn't promote confidence. Any good kits? I could source individual parts. Need to run my cooler. I'd like to get it done before waterfest but doubt i'll have the cash.

Is there any reason in particular you have decided to go with aluminium.  I think I would be partial to stainless.  Stainless tubing will transfer far less heat to your charge air than aluminium.  I would also think you would be able to source tubing from any exhaust shop...

I used 2" aluminum from a free source - my flag pole ! Its not polished and has an anti-oxide coating. SS is much heavier and more expensive than aluminum, IMHO.

But i could get some 2" ss. should probably go that route till i can afford new aluminum. I'd rather not add a buch of weight.
