Title: 2001 TDI Beetle
Post by: toddzil on July 04, 2009, 07:58:15 pm
Need a little help trouble shooting my wifes car.  2001 TDI Beetle started to jerk real hard and blow black smoke.  The car won't get over 25 mph and dies.  I was thinking mass air flow sensor, fuel pump or filter, etc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  [email protected]

I'm not a big expert but it sounds like the turbo went. Do you hear the turbo when the car is running?

Check fueling first. Replace filter if that's never been done.

Do you run alternative fuels? That can cause problems.

If you have no boost, then your N75 valve may be bad. It controls the wastegate. If it's not working, you will have no boost. Even with a bad one, you should still be able to go over 25 MPH and not buck.

Sounds like a fueling issue.
