Title: A/C clutch???
Post by: Kneale Brownson on July 03, 2009, 06:31:57 am
Is it possible to replace the magnetic clutch on the A/C compressor on a 1995 Jetta TD?  The clutch isn't engaging.

I'd like to avoid going through all the evac/flush/replace expensive drier/etc. in order to replace the whole compressor because the clutch isn't functioning.

I've replaced just the clutch without opening the system on an Audi.

yes it is - you would need a sanden puller to remove the clutch assy from the compressor hub - I think a bolt also works just dont know the size

u sure the clutch is gone? maybe you are just missing a ground connection to it

I had power to the connector.

Don't remember whether I hooked my test light to the ground in the connector, though.  I should recheck the continuity of the connector ground to the chassis, I guess.
