Title: diff accessory bracket from mk1-mk2?
Post by: jwspin on June 26, 2009, 06:37:51 pm
so im piecing my car together from random parts i have kicking around. the motor is going into a rabbit and when i tried to put the water pump and the accessory bracket that goes on over the water pump it seems like it is interfering with the injection pump/motor mount. do the mk1s have different accessory brackets or am i missing some sort of spacer?
and are there any tricks to bolting it up without taking off the fuel pump, i kinda forgot about those two up water pump bolts when i installed the pump and belts and the motor is all timed up....

I modified my bracket with a drill bit. I can remove it now with ease.

Yes they are different but they are compatible. There are a few different versions for both the mk1 and the mk2 as well

ok now i figured it out. the motor mount that i had was only compatible with the alternator bracket that bolts to the bottom too water pump bolts, i looked under the hood of a new customers rabbit pickup and they had the setup i was looking for. this is cool because it is a simple setup but not cool cause i cant find the bracket....
