My Jetta (1.6L N/A) exhaust system is shot. The previous owner removed the resonator and installed a section of straight pipe. The down pipe, the straight section and the muffler/pipe assambly are all rotted through. I have ben asking local garages how much they charge to replace the system, but they are all very expensive. I can do the job myself but so far the only place that I have found that sells the down pipe and muffler assembly (I can get the straight piece at a muffle shop) is the VW Parts Place catalogue and they are pretty pricey for exhaust pipe as well.
Does anyone know of a company/web site that sells MKII diesel exhaust systems at a resonable price?
Thanks

Check the dealership. I have found in the past that sometimes they are the cheapest on exhaust stuff. Don't assume they're always the most expensive........

custom made 2.5" mild steel for my GTD (Turbo Back) is about 400 pounds sterling which was cheaper than stock from dealer!!

www.pelhamauto.com They are in Mass. and really know their stuff about vw's. Been doing it since the beetle days. Prices are really good. I think my whole mk2 NA exhaust cost less than $250 front to back. I get all my hard to find parts from him.
