Title: Was there a 1.9 engine in the Mk2 GTD?
Post by: airhead on June 18, 2009, 01:30:58 pm
Theres a nice GTD advertised on the internet and Im going to go and see it if its still available. Funny thing though. It's advertised as being a 1.9, not a 1.6. Was there the option of a 1.9 engine in the GTD or is it a transplant from a Mk3 or something? What is the bhp of the 1.9 engine with all the GTD accoutrements on it? It must be close on 100. If anyone has any info I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

1.9 never appaered until the mk3 came along. it should be an AZZ code engine - which in next to bullet proof - and will take some massive mods i believe. there a silver one near me in the UK thats had this done but the lump is currently stock.

Thanks. Thats what I was thinking alright. I'm familiar with the AAZ engine, in so far as I've seen them and know what theyre about. It could be interesting in this golf actually! Nicely powerful!
