Title: no power steering
Post by: 92EcoDiesel Jetta on June 18, 2009, 12:58:29 pm
Among the many things wrong with this POS is the power steering. Fluid level is good, the belt is ok but no power steering assist. What usually goes in the Jetta? the pump or the assist gear on the steering rack?

Look into swapping the rack for a manual one. Face it, the car isn't that heavy.....

Sounds interesting! How painful a job is it? What parts are needed and how much?

That's what I did on my 50% heavier Caravan because I didn't want to hang a pump in my 1.6 TD. I even jumped generations on the car (manual rack was from a first gen, mine is second)
