Title: advice needed for cylinderhead
Post by: MRDART on June 10, 2009, 10:25:07 am
Hi everyone! Just made a serious mistake assembling my d24tic vw/volvo engine
I managed to turn one of the camshaft holders the wrong way(please donŽt make fun of me) so it is now in 2 piesces.
Can I take one from another head and bolt straight on or do i need to machine it to fit??

Just for info: english is not my first language....

You can try another one, but  tighten all the other caps first. Check to make sure the cam turns freely. Then put on the replacement cap, and tighten it down slowly, while checking how the cam turns.

I know what you mean, I think we would eventualy end up giving up our hobby, be forced to buy a new car and be totaly at the dealers mercy and not have eachother to talk to.  That would probably be the saddest part of all :'(

I will ask the machinist to fix the problem for me must be cheaper than buying a replacement head anyway
