I would not delete this post - this meter looks good and is even NOT made in China ;-) It would be nice if they listed a price or where you get one.

Here is the best...

I got a VDO setup for 98 bucks, the thermocouple was super slow so I got an aircraft spruce one for 23 bucks. Very fast reacting.
EDIT: When mine was NA I had the t-couple reading only the #2 cylinder. Now that it's getting all of the exhaust it reacts faster, I assume the reason for that is because now it always has exhaust going past it instead of just one cylinder puffing heat on it....then waiting it's turn....another puff....and so on ;D

Whatever gauge you get be sure to get that spruce thermocouple you read about here even if your gauge comes with one itself. They react so fast you can almost use it as a tachometer when accelerating. I have the Autometer Sport Comp which doesn't have the better lighting that the Pro Comp does but it matched the boost gauge I already had from a truck project a few years back. All pyrometers are pretty expensive, just get it and you'll like it ;) P.S. Put the thermocouple where they show here in pictures in the search section, centered under the turbo. It will not be as acurate any place else.

All my gauges are VDO so the next one i am going to buy is VDO EGT. What thermocouple you got from Spruce for 23 bucks? Their fast resoinse one is over 100 bucks.

The one Nate posted looks similar to ones made by a local(ish) company ;D
But they're expensive just for the gauge with no sender :o So I won't be using them (they seem to like Mitsubishi and Scoobys on their site ::) )
Can anyone give us some info where to get decent (not the best quality but decent quality) gauge and senders? I've got some money coming my way that's going on the car and I want to get the gauges sorted now, but don't want to pay silly money.

$78.25 gauge only
Then get the aircraftspruce thermocouple

Here's a thread with the Westach gauges:
http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=4785.15
The round face gauge that fits a standard pod is the 2C2-1 gauge (not to be confused with the 2C2) and must be special ordered from Aircraft Spruce or directly from www.Westach.com
