Title: Heat shield reshaping
Post by: rabbitman on May 05, 2009, 12:54:07 pm
Hey, I recall reading that it was possible to bend a heat shield back to original shape and reuse 'em. Anybody done this?

If it counts for anythign I tried once..  I think the hydraulic press was a bit too much though..  Screwed them up big time..

IMO, rebending heat shields is kinda janky...just buy new ones for $4.

All good points.

Yeah I remember now about the ball bearing, I made an ugly tool that kinda pushed it back to original shape.
I get tired of wanting to pull my injectors out but not having new shields, I guess I should just stock up. Thanks :)

There's a few things that whenever I buy, I buy twice as many as I need... Heat shields are one, inner tubes for my bikes are another...

Both are cheap when you can plan ahead, but if you need them at 6:58 on Friday evening they're worth about 10x their actual value...
