Title: Fresh air - What a difference.
Post by: Baxter on September 03, 2005, 04:28:46 pm
How do.
I've got a Caddy 1.6D.
just short of 260 000 on the clock.
Rattles a bit, nothing that a good rev once warm won't cure!
Anyway, I finally did something that I've been meaning to do for ages, I've ducted fresh air from the front of the truck to my airbox.
First I bought a duct from Demon Tweeks, and screwed it into place next to the RH headlamp just behind the convenient blank in the grille.
I had to open up a couple of bits, nothing a stanley knife wouldn't cure!
Then used some 60mm air ducting and routed it to the airbox.
I cut most of the snorkel off the airbox and attached the duct from the front.
I was a bit dubious about this, it sounds great in theory but in practice things like this generally make hardly any difference, or so I though.
How shocked was I when I took the truck up the road!
Budget tuning at it's best, well worth the 20 quid I spent in bits to make it look tidy.
Now I don't know if its the fact that I've in effect opened up the inlet tract and made it less restrictive or that it's because it's getting cool air.
All I know is that it works, and Im happy that the £20 I spent wasn't wasted.
Anyone considering this simple mod, do it! I like free power.

I used a 6"x3" one, had to trim it a little, nothing major.
