Jesus, I'd just like to find some Euro Corrado headlights for less than $700.   The US spec ones are just plain stupid.  Not VW's fault though- they had to comply with US regulations.

How did you do it

Jetta or rallye slam panel and rallye grille?

sheer butchery, the slam panel is mainly golf with bits of corrado slam panel riveted in, only bit of corrado panel i used were the bits that hold the bottom of the headlighes in place

I agree that it looks really tight but I also still like the look of a set of single rounds on a MKII.

On a dark country road which has the best light out put?

Personally, I think the Hella H4 7½" rounds with a set of 100W/130W Narva bulbs from http://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/products.html (http://).  I had a set of these on my '73 bug and when I would turn on the high beams it was like daylight in front of me.  I love the sharp cutoff of the H4's lowbeam since you get great illumination of the right shoulder but you're not blinding oncoming drivers.

Won't work for us Yanks since you Limey's drive on the wrong side of the road  ;D

i prefer the orig gtd lights myself and i know what u mean about brightness
i changed my bulbs H4 100w/80w they are alot better then i changed the H1 aswell to 100w
total cost about £30 for the lot
and they are a hell of alot better
