Title: GM 6.5l/6.2l diesel nozzles
Post by: hamradio on April 25, 2009, 04:14:44 pm
So,

This has been briefly discussed here.  It sounds like they are a good upgrade; very similar spray pattern to the vw ones from what I've read, and more flow.  And very cheap.

While doing some ebay searching for cheaper nozzles (cheapest I can find them is $13 at rockauto), I found these, the 'marine' nozzles.  Apparently 40 hp or something in the gm diesel.  Would they flow too much for the little 1.6?  If I could get a set for $40, I think I'd do it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2&item=230319399567&category=33554&viewitem=#ht_841wt_1134

Additionally, what is the flow difference between the turbo and non turbo bosch nozzles?  Any?  What about between 6.2l and 6.5l?

Also, if I go with a 1.9l diesel, can I still use the 1.6 injectors with bigger nozzles?

both 1.9 and 1.6 injectors are the same thread pitch and diameter but the  (and the heads are the same in that respect) but the 1.9 injectors are longer.

If you use a 1.6 pump with 1.6 lines and mounting bracket you can use a 1.9 head

likewise if you use a 1.9 pump/lines and mounting bracket they will match up with 1.9 injectors on a 1.6 head.

someone can just post "yes" if i'm correct about this.

i have an AAZ head with 1.6  injectors/pump and so on which is why i say this.

it may just be the lines that have to match up with what injectors you're using.

just the lines have to match.  i believe the early 1.9 injectors were the same height as the 1.6 too.  i don't see why anyone needs to upgrade their injectors, dave made 195 whp on 1.6 injectors and lost 10hp with mercedes nozzles.

yeah I wanna sell my merc tips and get some GTD tips....the stock or GTD tips seem to make more then enough power while still being true VW pattern...some time the way the patterns sprays is more important then the amount of fuel injected...

so if anybody want some complete merc injectors PM me..

I've posted this before but cant find it. Below is listed a couple different tips. the 6.2/6.5 tips flow the same as the OE vw tips so why waste your money?

mm3/1000st
76_______________6.2/6.5 Nozzle  dnosd248
76_______________VW 1.6 Nozzle  dnosd293
80_______________Case Nozzle     dn4sd42

Thanks a ton for all of the info!

I think I've been convinced to go with the 1.6 nozzles. :)

Just curious...I'm planning on dropping a 1.9l in the car in the next year or so...will the 1.6 nozzles work fine?

what about the vw 2.4 5 cyl nozzles?  they should have the right spray pattern and possibly flow slightly more fuel than 1.9's.

but GTD's are definitely good.  my butt dyno did feel a difference when i had them installed.  try to get the genuine bosch ones though or they won't last too long... (the chinese ones aren't as robust and start to smoke, and give low power much earlier)

i would think they're the same nozzle.  did you replace worn injectors with the gtd ones?  just curious
