that's a nice ride but who wants a 1.5 4spd? Talk about a turd.

Yeah, the 4 speed would be a drag. I about laughed out loud when I read that he routinely drives it 80+ mph!!!! WTF? I can hardly get my 1.6 N/A 5 spd to do 80mph!

Oh well, it's still a beautiful example of a well preserved MK1 diesel! ;)

I've got an awesome 86 Jetta TD I'd sell if someone would make me a decent offer. Shiny California car till last Dec. when I brought it here to the woods.

He'll take $750 off if you give him back the wheels

Wow I wish I had the money... although I don't think I would do that car justice

I have no admin powers. I can basically only edit, delete and move posts; the same as all the other mods.

Only Marc can fiddle with the admin settings. I'll send him a PM about it

@ $3,550 the reserve is not yet met... who knows what it's set at. If I had spare time when I go to SLC next weekend I'd check it out... but it's pointless, two dirtbikes and 3 cars my wife won't let me have any more toys

I said it can go over 80MPH, not that I routinely do go over 80MPH.  FYI, the factory top speed rating for this car is 87MPH.

BUSTED!!

IIRC 4th on the Rabbit 4 speed gearbox is not that different from 5th on the 5 speed, in fact, that little bit of torque lower down while in 4th might actually help it get to that top speed.

My N/A Rabbit pickup had a 5 speed, but in order to get top speed (on a closed track reserved for professional drivers only, of course) I had to use 4th.... it provided that extra little leverage to get that little bit more past the wind resistance.

I think it's an amazing clean ride... best of luck with the sale man !!

Thanks for the kind words.  I'm selling the rabbit so I can put a 2.0 TD in my newly acquired 100 Quattro.  '89 with 79K miles.  Here it is being test fitted with some new wheels/tires.

Drove up to Lewiston Idaho a couple of weeks ago to pick up an '83 Audi 5000 TD, and dragged in home.  It was a total POS, but only had 109K miles.  Pulled the engine and scrapped the rest of the car.  Hopefully this project will come together this summer.
