Hey there,
I had a firenza while I was in the uk abaout 10 years ago. Was a bit of a shed, as I was sarving student at the time. Still managed to tube frame the front end with fiberglass wings a rover 3.5,13 x 6 front and 13 x 8 rear allycats. Looked cool but was a lot of work as the engine was so far back I had to move the steering and pedals. Managed 52/48% weight distributionfor my effort though. An inline engine would be much easier.

By the way what would a complete 2.5 tdi for an Mtdi conversion go for, with and without a LT box? hard to find? might be of intereste for future endevors as a 1.9 seems weedy for a truck.

Keep the pics of the project coming!
Ryan

nice project ryan , i was trying to get a firenza but could not get a rust free one , and then this manta A came along , so i got it (nicer looking car)
In the uk 2.5 etdi engines are going for about £500  $780 and lt gear boxes about £80  $110  , i am going to build a mech pump to get rid of the fly by wire .

Man I wish we had that engine over here.  It would just be the berries for so many different swaps.  That and the 2.8TDI.

Can't beat that price either!  I paid $1200 for my 1.9 TDI!!!!

I don't want to polute your topic, just want to tell you you're not the only one with a 5-cyl m-tdi project

I started converting my Audi 100 1977 to a 2.0 5-cyl diesel for road admitance. After that I'm going to install a 2.5 TDI with 6-speed gearbox from a late Audi 100 or A6. I completely transformed all the motor supports. It is running and almost finished for the test. I only have to replace the front fender and do some other small welding.
