I finaly have my first rabbit diesel on the road, and a new prob crept up tonight. We were riding around town racking up a few miles( aprox 150 since complete rebuild). I got the urge to let loose all that wonderful 1.6 na horsepower  and as I gained some rpm(est 3000 to 3500) the engine shut down like the fuel was shut off. I let off the throttle and it would go again, but not rev higher, same result in all the lower gears. Fifth I didnt have the opportunity to try. I do know my alternator belt is loose ;could the w wire cause the fuel shut off to engage on the bosch pump ?
It was fine untill tonight.

the fuel shut off solenoid uses 12v to stay OPEN. No power = closed. So long as it's connected to the battery and the battery isn't dead it shouldn't shut off.
Check the wire to the solenoid. It may be deteriorating.

Is there anything in the circuit with the shut off soleniod that could trigger it? ie a rpm limiter , up shift light, or something of that nature? It ran fine untill last night then the "shut down point" was at aprox the same rpm in first three gears. I could hold it to the floor indefinatly in 5th and havent had a problem so im guessing the fuel filter is fine . I am hoever going to change it today on principle.

I found it ! My apologies for wasting everyones time. the wire to the shut off soleniod worked itself loose and I missed it in the dark. All is well now.
and thanks for your attention
