Title: Clutch questions

I want to get the better clutch setup. To run a 1.9L clutch the 210? do I have to have a new flywheel? I have searched but it hasn't brought me where I need to be. What can I get away with? Let me know I am going to go with a clutch net probably it is just which one.

I just called clutchnet and probably will go with the 1.6l stuff. Unless you guys say it is beneficial to do otherwise, I am going with a 6 puck sprung hub disc with a "red" pressure plate for the Jetta II on clutchnet.com

I have a 1.9 AAZ and tried a 4-puck. It was much too violent and after 3 months had worn the flywheel completely out. I replaced it with an ACT setup on a new used 210 flywheel and couldn't be happier.

That is exactly the setup I was thinking of. I didn't want a SOLID hub as I know that would be an on off switch. I figured the coil sprung hub would take some of the shock out of it and the 6 pads would hold what I want to throw at it. My only thinking was if the red PP would be too much pedal or if it would feel just like stock? Let me know what you all think. I contacted 53willys and he said the same thing zuk did. I wouldn't mind a cheaper setup of a regular disc, but I never want to have to open this up until I have to rebuild the engine again.

It's not the hub that's the problem. The 6-puck is like an on-off switch. There's no slipping it tom start off easy. It grabs and shudders and wears the stock flywheel. It's a drag race setup only. Mine was in the Caddy about 15000 km and I actually considered selling it, it was such a chore to drive.

I am glad I asked. Now I need to know everything about clutches and flywheels. Please tell me which one I can dailydrive and it will still hold up to *hoping* 150hp when needed. I was just thinking that the 6puck would be perfect, but didn't know if I should go red or yellow...now I have no clue.

Any good clutch will handle 150 HP. It's the torque you gotta worry about. I use an ACT clutch assembly, but any good street-strip setup will work.
The Clutchnet Fiber-carbon disc should be great, if you want to buy from them.

I'm pretty sure an 8v gasser clutch, stock Sachs, will hold 150hp pretty easily.  You'd need the whole setup though, clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel.  I've heard of turbo 8v's making 200hp using stock clutch.  Much more than that and you are approaching the limits of the 020 transmission.
