EDIT!!

I had read it backwards as to which trans you were changing from.

Using a 205/70r14 tire;
The top trans would have your engine spinning @ 3000 rpm @ 54 mph.

The lower trans would be 3000 rpm and 45 mph.

Wouldn't the rpms be lower with the DU instead of the ABF along with a higher top end?

No,

In gears the higher # is lower gearing. So a 5.89 Ring and pinion would spin the engine faster than a Ring and pinion of say 4.89.

The lower the # the slower the engine wi
ll spin.

Oh hell!!

Yes I read that backwards!

The DU will have lower RPM's.

I did exactly that;it's a 5 speed, but with the same 5th and R&P. At 3600 rpms,i was going 88 kph. When i changed it i can go 102 with stock size tires, and 107 with the 195/65/16's in summer.

You put in a 5 speed or are you telling me the DU is a 5 speed.
What is your top speed 102 with stock?
I already top out at 102 with the ABF and stock tires(1.9TD)

It isn't a DU .It's a syncro trans and diff but without the 4wd output. It's just the ratios are the same as a DU.
The speeds i mention aren't top speed ,but cruising speeds.Top spedd befroe was maybe 110. I haven't even tried with the engine i have now, maybe 125 if i plug my ears and don't look at the tach.
