Title: how much power out of a 1.6N/A with some mods??
Post by: detroitdiesel on March 22, 2009, 06:01:01 pm
I am planning on buying a 1981 rabbit diesel, with a 1.6 N/A diesel engine, and was wondering a few things. First, what kind of hp/tq could i expect to see out of the engine with the pump turned up all the way, and a turbo attached to it pushing 10-12 PSI?? Also, what is the max boost that can be used on these engines stock, and with head studs?

Thanks for the help,
Jordan P.

With the turbo running 10 psi you will basically be running what a stock TD has. Depending on how well the pump is tuned, and the rest of the engine is modded I'd say anywhere from 50-90 HP reliably. Not sure about TQ
