I'm going to be replacing the waterpump and thermostat in my '97 AAZ Jetta tomorrow, and I'm just looking for any tips or tricks any of you guys/gals have. It looks like I will have to remove the alternator, A/C compressor and the tensioner bracket to gain access to the waterpump. The injection pump doesn't need to be moved right?
Thanks!

Nope ip pump doesnt have to be removed.
1. You will need a bent wrench to get the top to bolts, Unless you are only replacing the pump and not the entire housing.
2. Hook up a vacuum cleaner to top rad house and turn on then slide thermostat in to hold in place, if you forget to install when pump is out.
