Dello 400, Rotella 15/40

I don't see a reason to spend lots on syn unless you want to unless you want to.

These engines last 300k and up or reg oil.

i spoil my diesel with 3 to 4 oil changes every year
15-40 if compression levels are OK (above 400)
you could go one step further 20-50 (if compression levels are below 400)

during the winter i switch to synthetic 0-40 for cold starting as it get -40oC here.

if your doing performace racing with the bling bling then synthetic 5-40

here a site all about engine oil

lubro moly is a really good oil.  but if you're burning oil, it doesn't make much sense to put an expensive oil in... other additives such as ZDDP are pretty good too.

i've ran 5w50 in my 1.6TD for a while, and it reduced oil consumption by a lot, but i found that my power was down a little.

The answer is weather-dependent, IMHO, and also subject to what you can get locally.

So, adding your location to your profile would be a help.... thanks!
