Title: Harbor Freight Tools
Post by: jasonsansfleece on March 08, 2009, 01:07:27 pm
I was looking at a compression tester, this one
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93644
and a leak down tester, this one
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94190

I would like to use them on both an IDI (through the injector hole) and a TDI (through the glow plug hole)

Does anyone have these particular tools and could they comment on their quality and suitability for home use. I know you often get what you pay for but I thought I would ask. Also, do they have the appropriate adaptors  for the above applications.

I got the same compression tester off of eBay. Works just fine. 8)

I have the same kit.  Meets or exceeds $24.99 for a compression tester -- works fine.

I bought the compression tester as well,
I used it one time (with 3 rounds of testing)
and it worked fine!
(I feel I already got my money's worth!)

I drilled out the case where the VW/Audi adapter sits,
so you can keep the threaded piece on the adapter
(I wrapped it with Teflon tape and tightened it really well)
