My new T/D 1.6 in my Rabbit runs fine but I notice I have to crank for about 15 seconds before it will start even when warm. I have the timing at 1.0 m/m and I cleaned and lapped the injectors when I put it together and it runs great other than the long cranking speed, pump wasn't touched as far as the settings. I took the injectors out today to swap them with my N//A ones and did a compression test at the same time. I have between 450 and 475 psi on all cyls. after 15 pumps on each one so the comp. is fine. I noticed when I took the injectors out that one of them is a 130 bar one and the other 3 are 155's. I put the N/A 130's in from the other engine and it seems to start a litte quicker but has a lot more smoke than the 155's did and don't have the power they do either. I need to either get 4 new injectors or at least 1 and have them all rebuilt and pop tested. I guess the best thing is to do is get it all at the same place so they will alll be the same. I've seen these injectors for $50 appeace at a few sites rebuilt but I don't think most of those are actualy pop tested too though. Anybody have any recomendations for where to get this done or parts to do it here in the States, I live in Md. And again I am afraid of the Chinese stuff. Does anybody know about what Giles injectors run, nothing exotic, just rebuilt and pop tested.

Start looking in the yellow pages for places that repair diesel engines. Ask them where they send their injectors and pumps for repair. Maybe there is a local place you don't know about yet. Find out what they charge to just check the pop pressure and spray pattern.

Do a voltage drop test on the wires between the starter and the battery and also the ground.
