Title: 1.5 compression numbers
Post by: UnderPSI on March 07, 2009, 04:02:32 pm
What are good compression numbers for a 1.5. I currently have 375, 400, 500, and 350.

I had 2 80 Rabbits with the 1.5 engine in the early 90's which ll I did was hone and put in new rings and a valve job and they both had 500 in all cylinders.  they both had about 175,000 on them when I put the rings in.

Sounds like someone needs rings....

Really, uneven numbers like that suggest badly worn rings or bores, or valves.

You might want to start investigating that before something happens.

I recently did the head gasket, had the head pressure tested while it was off, came out ok. I'll have do new rings when i get the other head done I guess.

I would check the wear at the piston skirts. You may want a new set of pistons..

I rerang a 1.5 once and It didn't last.. It turns out the pistons were worn about .012 smaller than stock.
