here are some pics of my mk1 or rabbit, it saterted life as a 1.6 N/A diesel and I recently completed the engine swap with a 1.6TD SB engine from a mk2 GTD :D
old engine coming out, you can just see the new one waiting to go in.

engine mods so far are pretty much as you can see, big front mount intercooler, and green cone air filter, there is also a 2" custom down pipe, but it still goes into the origional 1.6 N/A system which is tiny, so a new system is on the list to do
its lowered about 40mm, 7"x15" et 26 alloys with 195/50/15 goodyear eagles, a 256mm front disc and 9" servo brake upgrade and it also has Gti antiroll bars
inside are a pair of corrado front seats, a smattering of stereo, and oil pressure, oil temp, volts, amps, boost, and EGT guages
future plans include a better paint job with rattle cans in matt black 8)
and some wide steels to with black centres to complete the look :D
and theres still a fair amount more engine work to be done
hope you like :D

hope you like :D
YES.. me like 8)
But did you use plastic/PVC piping for the IC? I suggest you swap that for aluminium.. I think the PVC wil melt or deform under the heat and stress of the moving engine.
Aluminium pipe comes in a lot of diameters and thinkness, and costs about 30-50 euros per 6 meter overhere.. added gain is that the pipe works as a part of the IC by cooling the air :)

What is that intercooler from? I'd say it's from a Rallye, but it looks new.

cheers :)
yes some of the the intercooler pipe work is plastic plumbing pipe, infact its a total bodge including some of the origional rubber hose and some odd flexi stuff I had lying around! , initially it was only really ment to mock up and test fit everything, and was held to gether with gaffa tape, but I left it on while running the engine in as I didn't expect to be running much boost, and well its kinda stayed
it has actually stood up very well and shows no signs of melting or deforming, the main problem I had was with the gaffa tape leaking boost - it seems its not quite up to the job of holding in 0.7bar and coping with under bonnet temps :(
when I start to mod it abit more and up the boost etc. I may find that I need to redo it with some better stuff with silicone or somthing but for now it'll do.

its actually from a land rover TD5 8)
I basically just searched ebay for intercoolers which would fit in the front pannel there and this was one that came up, it did need a some fettling to get it in right but then it only cost me £40 and it does the job , so I'm happy :D

Wow - that intercooler fills up the front of the A1 nicely. Beautiful GTD!

Sweet job man!!!
Hey, where did you source your 1.6TD?
And, do you plan on putting a diesel into that sirocco?
-
hey mk1vdub,
Where in the UK are you from? Im from preston, lancs...heres a thread on my project...http://forums.tdiclub.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1095606&an=0&page=0#1095606
Just noticed were both using same intercooler
Loving your car we should meet up once our cars are on the road!
Anton.

Hey Anton,
I'm in Dorking, Surrey
your project looks excellent, I rekon it'll be cracking when its all up an running
lol @ same intercooler, where did you buy yours? any particualr reason for your choice? I got mine from ebay 'cause it was roughly the right size and going fairly cheap, I get a bit of lag but its not too bad...
I'd love to meet up at some point and have chat and a look round your motor :D
