Title: Engine mount balancing?
Post by: molgrips on March 02, 2009, 10:07:55 am
I swear I remember reading somewhere for the procedure to "balance" the engine mouts.  Something about slackening them off, running the engine and moving the engine into the right position to minimize vibration.  Something to do with making sure the tension in each mount is even..

Am I talking rubbish or what?

According to the Bentley, engine mounts are supposed to be tightened down and torqued with the engine running at idle, is that what you mean?

The way i always did it was to loosen the upper bolts/nuts and then grab the motor and shake it as hard as you can. If all the mounts are in good shape, it will settle where it's supposed to.
