Post by: brandonfast on February 28, 2009, 02:15:23 pm
Hey I was wondering if anyone knew what the dael is with this tank that was installed in the back hatch portion of my rabbit. its a 1981 diesel and had a all aluminum bolted in gas tank extaension that fills up after you fill the main tank and feed to the main tank. it was stamped with the date and person who installed it. installed in 3/5/81 by olin rushin. and it has what seems to be a part number on a black sticker. 175-201-681. thanks any information would be helpful.

My grandfathers old Rabbit had one of these.  It was pretty useful in San Diego back in the 80's, there were not that many diesel stations.

I see your Item number: 320344421794 - you are calling it an "OEM VW..."

Hummm, VW must not stand for volkswagen.

But, the tank in mine was round and fit into the spare tire cavity nicely. I did not loose trunk space if I left the spare tire home.
